Lurdes Bergada, born in Barcelona in 1950, taught herself to make clothing for her own wardrobe. She founded her company in 1973 under the name Plexiglas, renaming it Lurdes Bergada in 1985. Her work explores unusual proportions, draping and relaxed silhouettes.
